Every run follows the same shape: enemies spawn in waves that get denser over time, your character auto-attacks whatever's in range, and killing enemies drops experience that levels you up mid-fight. Each level-up is a choice — a new ability, or an upgrade to one you already have. There's no pause to plan ahead; the choice you make at level 6 has to work with whatever you picked at level 2.

Go wide early, narrow late. In the first few minutes, take whatever ability covers a gap in your kit — a slow if you have none, an area effect if everything so far is single-target. Once you have three or four abilities running, start focusing upgrades into the two that are doing the most work, instead of spreading upgrades evenly.

Prioritize area-of-effect over single-target once waves overlap. A high-damage single-target spell feels great against one enemy, but Magic Survivor's difficulty comes from density, not toughness. Once you're fighting multiple groups at once, an ability that hits everything nearby will keep you alive longer than one that hits hardest.

Don't ignore movement and defensive upgrades. They don't feel as exciting as a new attack, but the runs that go the distance are usually the ones where the player can still move freely through a crowded arena in the final minutes — not the ones with the single strongest spell.

Common beginner mistakes

• Standing still to line up a "perfect" shot. With auto-cast handling your attacks, standing still only costs you positioning. Keep moving, even mid-fight.
• Taking every offered upgrade to the same ability. Maxing one spell early feels powerful, but it leaves you with no answer when a wave arrives that your one spell handles poorly.
• Panicking when surrounded. The instinct is to push through the thickest part of the crowd. Instead, look for the thinnest edge of the horde and move there — Magic Survivor's arenas almost always have one.

1. Treat your first three level-ups as scouting — they tell you what kind of run this is going to be.
2. Re-evaluate your build every time the wave density visibly increases, not just when you level up.
